OVO Foundation Nature Prize Winners

We are thrilled to announce that we have been selected as a winner of The OVO Foundation Nature Prize!

The OVO Foundation Nature Prize is awarded to schools demonstrating innovative approaches to connecting children with nature and addressing environmental challenges. We are one of 30 Let's Go Zero schools that won, and we have received a funding of £500 which will go towards our exciting plan to build a beautiful Rain Garden right here in our school grounds!

This isn't just about making our school look prettier, this project is a vital step in boosting climate support. The garden will help soak up excess rainwater during heavy downpours, helping us manage flood risks as our climate changes.

The garden will also create an amazing new habitats for bees, butterflies, and birds, bringing more biodiversity back to our local area. We are absolutely delighted to receive this support from The OVO Foundation and Mrs Chara Jirjees, our Eco-council facilitator, is excited about showing our pupils how we can use nature-based solutions to tackle big problems like climate change, right here in our own playground.

Work on the rain garden is scheduled to begin in March. We plan to involve the children in the planting process, offering hands-on learning opportunities about ecology, the water cycle, and how they can look after their environment.
